Interesting add. 1964/7 AlfaRomeo Giulia TI Super, EX.Autodelta, factory works car, 1965 Sebring
Autodelta factory team car, result 6th,1965 Sebring 3h
Why does the add mention the numbers 1964/7? Ti Supers were produced in 1963 and 1964, according to the Fusi bible, 3rd edition.
There was a Giulia Ti Super that finished sixth in Sebring in 1965; it was an Autodelta S.p.a. Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Super driven by Teodoro Zeccoli according to Racing Sports Cars - Home Page
Tom Zat apparently once owned an Autodelta Ti Super that drove Sebring according to my records. I can't check if that car drove Sebring in 1965. The car Tom Zat owned had chassisnumber 105.16.595469, again according to my records. Interesting to check the history of the car that was advertised. That is it for now.
The engine seems to be what Bonhams in the discription calls "a rebuilt 1,850cc 'Super Talladega' unit claimed to produce in excess of 200bhp" What was in the car when it ran Sebring in 1965? Was it a Ti Super Autodelta unit or had it been uprated by that time already? Is the engine in the car the "Super Talladega" unit and how much of the Autodelta engine has been saved as a spare engine with the car? Lots of questions to ask and answers to be found.
It did not run in Sebring '65 nor is it the Talladega Giulia. It was never an Autodelta car. The modifications of body and interior are not of the '60s. The strange rollcage is custom made. The engine with a '67 cylinder head was not with the car until the '90s and the airbox is not from Autodelta.
Thank you Martin!
The modifications of the rear panels seemed to be out of place for an Autodelta Ti Super. But then again, I am not an expert.
You are!
Ciao, Olaf
