Any suggestions for re-attaching the center soft rubber spoiler on my 85 spider. The original bolts had rusted out and pulled out of the spoiler when I removed it to paint the car. So now I guess I will have "glue" it back on. Has any one done this and what did you use?

I'm sure that if you glue the spoiler to the trunk it will stay on, but I don't think it will be enough to make the fit look symmetrical. The bolts actually "pull down" on the spoiler so that you can match the height with the rubber pieces on either end of the rear fenders. Also, the bolts assure that the fit is perfectly aligned with the back of the trunk lid. I guess you could align it manually, but I can see this being difficult, as one small movement could cause a poor fit. If it were me, I would try to refurbish the spoiler and use new bolts.

Best regards,

...you can probably find some one parting out a spider and get a good for cheap...
He would be extremely lucky if he did... The '85 Spider spoiler is the soft rubber type, and these were only fitted to the '84 and '85 models. Thus, they are not common, and when one finds one, it is usually not in good shape, as the rubber deteriorates badly if not cared for regularly. Last, when there is a good one, the seller usually knows what he's got and it goes for a pretty penny...

Best regards,
