Streets of Willow, at Willow Springs Raceway, Rosamond, CA
3 groups: Street Performance, TT (Novice/Advanced), Race

The High Performance Driving School is a chance to test the limits of your vehicle and yourself. No flashing lights, no tickets, no worries! In addition to having a great time, you will be learning the skills that will make you a better driver on the track and on the street. You will have class time, skidpad exercises (a great experience in learning car control) as well as a lot of track time.

Our High Performance Driving School, run by the AROSC, has been in continuous operation for over 20 years.
• No racing belts required for Street Performance Group.
• Instructors will ride in your car.
• All cars are welcome; you just need a desire to improve your skills and to have a little fun in the process.
• In Race class you will have more starts in 1 day than you would see in 2 years.

When we took our 240Z apart in November, it was our plan to have it together and ready for the driving school in April. It's now 120 pounds lighter and still in pieces. A bit of sanding and painting to do yet. Then it will go back together.

A few questions about the driving school and car preperation for the school:

Can I take the race school without taking the time trial school first? (I took the Street School a few years ago and have an AROSC time trial license).

Does the car (and driver) need to be prepped for race events to take the race school?

Race School requirements

You can attend the Race School without doing any of the Advanced Time Trial Schools. HOWEVER, you better call the Director of Instruction to talk your way into Race School. With a Time Trial license you stand a good chance of talking your way in. Oh, throwing around lots of cash helps a lot
The car entry requirements are the same as those for Race.
Roll Bar, SFI rated suit, 2005 Snell Helmet, window net or arm restraings, and a few more items.

School Registration looks good

As of Sun Apr 3 we have 43 Students entered: 10 thru snail mail, and 33 thru MotorSportReg.
Street Performance has closed. We need a few more racers and time trialers.
And at least 1 super car is entered in Race.
Come on out and see what it is. . . .

Edit 4-2: Spoke to Headmaster Steve. Street Performance is about filled up. We need a few more Race and more Advanced Time Trial. Those of you who think you know how to drive, but really don't. Those of you who drive your guts out and still get passed. Those of you with inconsistent lap times. "Drive Fast Now, Ask Me How !".

How can you go wrong?
2 days of track, skidpad and classroom
An instructor in your car and driving your car if you want
A slower track to practice technique with few bad consequences of mistakes
Away from the office and family for 2 days
You get to stay in Lancaster (oh, wait, cross than one off)
Other than that, how can you go wrong?
Taxes are due, so why not ease the pain with a little recreation?

Does anyone know if there are realistic chances for a CCW-direction session at the end of Sat or Sunday? Maybe even the longer configuration with most of the speed-controlling cones removed? Curiously, jeff

Oh, Jeff there is a good chance of a track change on Sunday afternoon.
Need to have a Time Trial prepped car, with 5 pt. belts, to particapate in that last session.

Appreciation

A big thank you to all of the club-members who spent time and an honest effort to coordinate and teach at the most recent weekend's race/tt/driving school. We enjoyed your patience and all the advice even had pleasant weather.
BTW - did the engineering & logistics team from Weissach ever arrive to dispose of that abandoned 944 that was hobbled on our infield?

A big thanks to all 62 of you Students who participated. It was the biggest turnout in the last several years. Without all of you it would be just a bunch of us Instructors talking to our selves.
And we finaly got a water truck for the skid pad!!!!
The 944 was a project to get loaded onto its trailer. The A-arm broke. But they will have it repaired before Buttonwillow on May 14-15. It should make a nice thread about "slammed Porsches" on their bb.

All you students can find a place for your self at Buttonwillow.
- DE and Point By groups are for cars with only stock seat belts. DE group gets instruction, but you folks could enter Point By.
- Open Passing is for cars with 5/6 pt belts
- Race and Enduro, well you can guess, they are race cars.

Yes, it was a beautiful weekend too. The weather was great (80's on Sat, 70's on Sun) and it didn't get too windy until the end of Sunday.

It was great to have the water truck out there!
