Some of you may have seen this post in off-topic. Please no flaming - I know double-posting is impolite. But I was getting no response and there's just not much traffic in off-topic so I figured I'd give it a try here......anyhoo......

Lately I just haven't had time to be part of the "scene". Two kids, Scout Master duties, a wife that works evenings, promotions at work meaning mountains of works, old house needing lots of work....excuses, excuses.....

Anyhow, I hadn't been in touch with my local (Colorado) Alfa club and was dismayed to find that their website is no more. Can anybody update me on the status of the club?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,
I have no idea on the status of your chapter, but I'm not at all surprised that a local web site has been pulled. I belong to the NJ chapter, which has no web site even though we have ~ 200 members, and the Ohio Valley chapter, which has a very out-dated web site. (I'm the newsletter editor for OVAROC.) To find out what's going on, I would call the person (Chapter president) that the AROC web site (Alfa Romeo Owners Club USA | Home) lists as the contact. (The AROC info seems to be up-to-date always.) Also, I did see you inquiry in the other forum, but I thought someone from your area would be responding. However, the truth is that not many AROC members post on the BB...

Best regards,

Thanks Enrique,

I might call who they have listed - but that's out of date too - he's no longer president of the club! But he is still involved. At least he was....There's no newsletter either as that went electronic (posted to the website) about a year ago......Doh! I know that there are at least a couple of members who post here (can't remember now who though unforunately. Doh! Doh!).

Your post stoked my curiosity so I pulled up the website...
Seems to still be live.
Alfa Club of Colorado - Home
On the site events listings they have the Christmas party scheduled for the 15th of DEC. And the most recent post on the classifieds section was dated 11/20/07.
I haven't been involved with the group as my 79 spider is STILL waiting to be put back together (6 years and counting....) But I have put calls into the ACOC board members in times of need. They have always been a great help!

Interesting, since the person listed is contacted at least once a year and asked if they are still the contact, plus who all the officers are...

IIRC (moving and lots of stuff is packed) one of the Nat'l directors is from Colorado? Check the Owner for contact details.

The Colorado club is alive and well; the web site is probably just having some hosting SNAFUs. These things usually resolve themselves in a few days.

I ran 2 track events with the club this summer, and they have had several other events throughout the year as well as monthly meetings in Denver.

Hey there it is! Thanks guys!

Google let me down. It was giving me the old URL. A few weeks ago it still had a cached version of the old site but the link led to a domain parking page. So I figured exactly what Joe said - they'd let there domain expire or somebody hijacked it or something like that. Then the old domain dropped out of Google completely and I was like "uh-oh!". I was overdoing my Google search by looking for "Alfa Romeo Owners Club of Colorado" - just searching on "Alfa Club Colorado" brings it up no problem.

I used to do a few events here and there but have been under water recently. I think the last event I actually made was the Alfa West closing open house a couple years ago.

Oh well, I finally found it. Thanks again guys!
