Went on a drive a couple of days ago and my wife noticed that this piece had appeared suddenly in the passenger floorboard. I am assuming it fell from somewhere above the passenger footwell but I don't see anywhere it would have come from. It looks like a retaining bracket of some sort.... Any ideas?

It is the metal piece that holds the vertical cover (by the tranny) on the inboard side .
This is the carpeted piece to the left of the passenger legs. It is held there by the rivets that obviously came out. You also have some screws that hold it in place too besides that bracket.
