I was wondering if anybody has an Ansa Sport end muffler on his 164. (AR6027)
Quality, sound etc.

Anybody?

I have one in my spares I took off a my Old Blue the beater. It was pretty tame on that 164L with triangle shaped OEM center muffler and A/T.

I plan to use it on my 164S BB2 I am rehabbing now.

I don't do boy racer noise well so I like the sound of it.
It's for my new 164 S. I like the shape of the Ansa, also had it on my Gtv6 3.0 which sounded great.
I live in the Netherlands and finding a distributor who sels Ansa is a problem.
The only trouble I've had with Ansa is that they seem to rust out even faster than the OEM systems through the years, according to my records.

BTW, we are to meet your friend Arjen today after he finishes his work at the local airport. Should be fun. You all have some very nice cars.

Hi Del,

Arjen looks forward meeting you. Have a good time and make some nice photo's!

Just to second what Del said. I had a ANSA sport exhaust rot through where the foreward pipe goes into the muffler body in a little over 3 years, it sounded great before it broke apart though. After that i purchased a Stebro full stainless system allthough it cost twice as much as the ANSA it still looks like new after almost 7 years, but last time i heard the Stebro were not available anymore.

I thought it was just me. Same thing here. ANSA rotted and broke at the front of the muffler. Replaced it with OEM type. I miss that ANSA sound.
I have on 24V

and its too throaty for me, seems to resonate right at about 3100 rpm (a shade over 70 mph) -- it does sound baddd- @$$ tho!
Glenn told me since I am running the stock resonator that I would get the best sound by simply removing the center muffler. I'm probably going to give that a try. But I live in a place where the party does not check for that. Everyone may not have that option.
Thanks all for reply!
I think if I can get hold of this exhaust I try one out.....:)

Erwin
Yes Erwin I think you'll like it. It just does not seem to last long enough.

Ansa is very good and keeps the Italian Sound. It's not much louder than stock.

I prefer REMUS, little more money but very high quality and the sound is similar to Ansa. So I did not loose any Italian notes with my REMUS.
I have not had issues with it and neither has any of my customers of the years.
The build quality and materials used are much more than Ansa.
But if your a budget the Ansa will do fine and is a very good unit. But as you have heard they can rust out. Thats always been an Ansa issue.
The one on ebay appears to be the oe replacement style. i am looking for the ansa sport option (ar6027). where did you find the one in the netherlands?

I bought it from a private seller who had some old stock in his garage. It was one complete set.

@Jason, I also like the Remus sound but prefere the looks of the Ansa/Csc.

i cannot comment on the sound of the ansa sport on a 164 but i can on the overall quality.

i did extensive research when i was looking to improve the sound on my s4 spider and in general, most people here have commented on the poor quality of ansa.

i have had personal friends that have used ansa in the past and their overall consensus was that it is an excellent quality piece.

i decided to to go with the ansa and have never been happier.

the exhaust note is much deeper than stock but not "rice boy" sound:

i have had it for about 3 years now and the quality is still in excellent, like new condition.

i don't drive the car that much so i am sure that helps with keeping it still in good shape.

hopefully someone can post a sound clip of the ansa sport on a 164.

i would love to hear how it sounds on that car.

Sounds great! Much deeper.
When I have my Ansa replaced under the 164 Savali I will let you know how it sounds....
