Below is a definitive article as to comparison, if you accept cookies it will allow a search by using f3 key a dialog box pops up and you can search a specific oil. There is about 286 pages ...

Just a quick note that F3 for search is far from universal. A better bet is control-f (Windows and Linux) or command-f (Mac). Or choose "find in page" from the menu on Android phones and tablets.

That page is some rabbit hole.....information overload! It's super interesting to me that most of the results are pretty unintuitive. The top 10 of the wear protection rankings contain almost exclusively 5w30 and 0w20 oils - the one interloper is Mobile 1 "European Car Formula" 0w40 at number 6. The number 1 ranked oil without an additive is Amsoil 0w20. The highest rated 50-weight oil is Motorcraft 5w50 down at 44, with the next being Valvoline VR1 20w50 down at 64. My Mobile 1 15w50 is way down at 188!

Let's see...rankings of other oils recommended in this thread:

Valvoline VR1 20w50 at 64
Castrol 20w50 GTX at 70
Royal Purple 20w50 at 132
Kendall 20w50 at 133
Shell Rotella 15w40 at 179
Mobile 1 15w50 at 188

I'm not sure what to make of all of that....

At a guess it sounds like its aimed at the requirements of current engines not old technology.
