Hi
I've reviewed lots of posts and have 2 questions as the posts have not helped me.
1. I've removed the pointed grub screws at the top of the side plates but nothing loosened up. What do they do.
2. What hole and what type of head is the hidden screw. All I see when I've rotated through the full range is what looks like the flat end of a bolt.

There is only one countersunk allen screw hidden inside the hinge and it is accessed via the hole shown in this photo.

The other fasteners that you see are the ends of the 3 rivets that hold the internal mechanism to the other hinge body.

Once the grub screws at the hinge pivot are removed, and the 2 screw that fasten the hinge to the seat upright, the hinges should slide off the pivot shaft....though you might need some gentle persuasion due to rust build-up.

.....Thanks greatly. I assume your restoration is complete by now!
The seats & car have been completed for the past few years. The seat hinges went from the condition shown in post # 2 photo to these....

...took a bit effort with powder coating of the housings, plating the internal mechanicals and machining new stainless rivets and stainless pivot pin for the outer hinge.

..... Buying a lathe and machining rivets is the right way but unfortunately too much for me.
Keep an eye out for used mini lathes......I got lucky with one that came up for sale on kijiji from an estate sale....I grabbed it immediately the moment I saw it. I don't know how I would have been able to refinish the very rusty original pin on the hinge without making a new one from stainless. Hopefully yours is not in as in bad a condition as mine were.

Very good point, I have a "Unimat" with all of the attachments that I bought in the '70's. Made many items over the years, I'm sure it will come in handy for any Alfa pins, etc. that I might need in the future.
