hello,

I've been thinking a long wether I'd open a topic or not, but eventually I couldn't resist ''the force''. So here it is. I'm building, or better, rebuilding a GTAm replica, my grandfather once prepared to go racing. Before he had succes with a fulvia hf, ferrari dino and a ford escort mexico. Then he started building this GTAm replica, but he never finished the project, and quited racing (due to some regulation changes early the eighties). The car was placed in a shed/barn kind of storage place, and has waited for almost 30 years to see the sunlight again.
As soon as the car entered my workshop I started to dismantle it, I'm still in the tearing down proces, but I've also started to build up the dismantled parts. So when the car is completly stripped, and ''adjusted to my needs'' it can be painted and I can start the build up with pieces that are allready prepared to bolt on.
If the car is finished I'd like to race in the belgian historic championship.
enough chit-chat, some pics:

When it arrived @ my shop:

a few moments later the head was on the bench:

GTAm

Hallo Tussegaaas,

very nice project and grandfather. Wish to had such a grandfather, the mine drove only german mopeds ( NSU Quickly). Really great history, why you speak from a replica, its made or began in period. I bought much racecars in Belgium, also a GTAm ex VDS. He had also a set of 2-piece Gotti wheels like yours, very nice (love them more than Camps).
My GTA 1600 came also from Brüssel . I love Belgium , will see ,where is St. Niclaas .
Pay attention to the oxidation, seldom saw such rusted brakebooster! Think it was stored halfopen? Wish you all the best with your project.

MFG

what would you like to know about him :). he has won once or twice the zolder 6 hours, and i forgot, he has also raced an NSU :). he also began the workshop I currently own back in 1967 :).
it was a closed storage place, but off course after 30 years :) still in doubt about the future of the booster, with or without...
Sint-Niklaas is between ghent and antwerp :)

that's me in the car :) I'm doing the engine and gearbox rebuild of this car at this moment. It has been hell to find some parts, but we have nearly everything by now, and the car should be ready to drive on the vernasca silver flag event this june :).

I'm surprised the purists haven't started howling for this to be put in the non GTA/GTAm section.

thanks for the reply toto, when was the last time that you visited the shop?

some new pics, I have removed the diff, and I have seen that there are cool retro air scoops for the rear brakes, and the rear rubbers of the trailing arms are replaced with uniballs, but those pictures weren't very clear, so I didn't post them.
