I’m still sorting things out on my recently purchased ‘91S. The car drifts slightly to the left while on the freeway. The steering wheel position is turning right while the car is traveling straight.

Is this something I should take to a shop? Is it more than just an alignment problem?

Since the car is unfamiliar to you, it's worth paying for a four-wheel alignment in my opinion. There might be a bent control arm in the rear suspension, or something like that. Better to pick it up now and get the best value out of fixing it, over the long term.

Having said that, many steering-centering problems are tyre-related, even if the pressures are the same. I would suggest a check to see if you have directional (i.e. drive in only one direction) tyres on the front, and if not, then swap them left to right and see if that changes the symptoms at all.

Also check for uneven tire wear, thats a sure sign that the alignment is off, best of luck,
