Just purchased some 7X15" Alfaholics GTA wheels for my 74 GTV. Now wondering whats the best tire to put on them. The alfaholics website recommends 195/55 R15 for road use but I've heard some people have also used 195/60 R15's.

Looking for recommendations on tire size and brand or any advise from members who also have this wheel.

Thanks

Here is what Max wrote to me when I recently inquired to Alfaholics about their 15x7 GTA replicas for my Giulia Super... "All cars will fit with 185/60 Tyres, and most will have clearance with 195/55 as well - it seems that rear arch clearance varies between cars. I recommend to get the wheels then take them to a Tyres shop and 1 up witheach size and test fit on the car to make final decision."

195/60 15 is very close to original diameter. 195/55 15 will lower the gearing and ground clearance slightly, but give access to sportier tyres. 205/55 15 or 205/50 will also fit on a 7 inch rim, but may create clearance issues at the back for sedans or small arch coupes. The seem to steer better with a narrower tyre anyhow.

195/65 15 also (only just) works with these rims if diff is centered right and you want to gear up. Some makes of tyre in this size that have a squarer sidewall (than the marangoni verso I run) might rub.

Above I mentioned that Max recommends 185/60/15s but what about 185/65/15s on a set of 15x7 GTA replicas?

I've just fitted 195/55 Pirelli P6's on my 15 x 7 Superlites (Minilite replica). They look and feel fantastic and there is not much clearance left over so I'm glad I didn't go bigger. Also the fact that anything wider puts a lot more strain on the suspension components.

Cheers,
Wazza.

There are a lot of threads on tire sizes, but I would tend to favor a tire that matches oe dia.
You can do the math, or go online to a tire size calculator site and see that the oe tire is 165,80,14 and a 195,60,15 is just abit smaller and a 205,60,15 is a bit bigger. 185,65,15 is close to but pretty skinny for a 7'' rim not much rim protection. My choice would be 205,60,15 for the dia, width and rim protection. I have 205,60,15 on 15x7 rims with 23mm offset and they work good, with the gta offset of 29 you should have no issues on your high rear arch GTV. A friend has a 74 GTV with Rotas 15x7 30mm offset and 205 60 15 with out issues. The Panasports that are sold for Alfas have 25mm offset on the 15x7'' I think IAP recomends 205,60,15 for that rim.
I am thinking of buying the GTA wheels also.

I chose 195-60-15, since it has similar height to original wheels. However, I prefered 185- but that is too small for 7" rims.

195,60,15s would be a close 2nd choice. Please post photos of your setup once you install tires. I dont think I have seen any photos 15'' GTA wheels with 195 or 205 60s. I know Alfaholics told me they have mounted 195,60,15 on the GTA wheel but didn't have any photos of that tire.

Richard Banks advised me to fit 225x45 on Alfaholics 15x8 gold repro wheels for my GTAm replica but the arches were formed in ally by an 80yr old metal worker and may be bigger than the fibreglass arches that are normally used ---- just hoping it will look right once the ' C ' fast road kit's fitted , looks like a girraf at the moment with it's new gold wheels .
