It appears this Alfa Romeo script and/or logo seems to date back to about 1925 and may first have been used on the radiator grille of the RL Normale. It can be found on the radiator grille of many production cars from the late '20s and '30s (6C 1500, 1750, 1900, 2300 and 8C 2300 and 2900), but as the big shield center grille started to disappear with the 6C 2500 in 1939, so did the big script in the front. The staggered script (with "Alfa" and "Romeo" on two lines) continued to be used in post-war advertising, but the script changed to a smaller font on a single line, attached to the back of the cars in the '50s.

Thank you for the info!
