Fits Giulia sedans and Duettos with power brakes too. This is the post-recall one, takes a rubber or fabric hose to the MC supply pipe. First ones had a flare fitting, vibrated and broke, subject to US recall and TSB.

In general, the first two sets of digits are the car model on which the part was introduced, in this case, 105.08, floor shift Giulia TI. If the same part was used on other models (Duetto, GTV, Super), the PN didn't change if the part was identical, they just kept it. It was very logical. The other groups of digits tell you major and minor areas, brakes, reservoirs, etc. Fiat tossed all this out the window when the introduced the 605..., 607... system.

Maybe a dumb question, but if you use a soft tube at the reservoir, how do you connect to the 7/16-24 flared tube port on the MC? Is there an adapter from 7/16-24 to some sort of barbed fitting?

I wondered if the tech bulletin had retrofit instructions so I tried to find a tech bulletin in CarDisc on the change/recall but was not able to find one.

There's a whole explanation in some official Alfa document on the parts numbering system, came in about the time of the 2000 cast iron cars and 101 Giuliettas, I think. Truly rational, systematic, easy to understand and update. Those Italians man.

The supply pipe to the MC has a flare fitting at the bottom. Original ones had it at the top too, no rubber hose. Flex caused breakage, so basically they cut the top flare off the supply pipe, added a rubber hose, and changed the reservoir to have a cast-in nipple rather than a screwed-in flare fitting and rubber gasket. Not all got recall-fixed, I've had a few cars with the early style reservoir.

Got it now. The hard pipe goes most of the way up with a short soft tube bridging the gap. The exact cut off point is probably a combo of routing, aesthetics plus where is the hard pipe best supported. Thanks!

Correct. If these were done on the recall, I imagine the TSB showed where to cut the hard pipe, though mechanics working flat rate would likely have been haulin' booty to get to the next job and the heck with details.
