As Sergio Marchionne 8c competizione will debut in 2007
8c will be out in 2007 with about 500 engine horsepower!
Until summer alfa mechanics should decide which engine they will use.The options are....

1)4.25V8 of Maserati with comressor that increases 30%(520hp)the hp and 600nm torque! That option costs more!

2)4.3V8 of F430 me 490hp and 465nm of torque

3)The new 5litres v8 of the new Maserati spider with 540nm of torque!

It will have retractable roof like sl and we will see it in Frankfurt(september)

8C will be build by ferrari who the same matterial platform as enzo better than F430's aluminum platform!

Great gathering of Info, THANKs!
Just curious where that info at the bottom there came from?

Retractable roof? That seems unlikely with its current roof line, but I guess anything's possible,

Ive been studying this car way more then I probably should, a few points I would make,
A. leave the prototype wheels,
B. the front area near the headlamps and under the headlamp needs work,
C. the side meshes need to be dark again like they originally were, dont do something cool and then try to make it the same color as the paint so its less "obvious". haha. see: the Murcielago for mesh color reference..

How is it possible for people to not be blown away by this design!!!!!! This is a striking car and the kind of car that is needed to signal a dramatic and in your face return to the US market. Please don't bring me that Acura like Spider!! It looks silly in comparison. ;)

Hmm, why do I have this sinking feeling of a Northstar V8 driving on the front wheels and the design being destroyed by way too long over-hangs... Ohh right that's the Brea but with a Austrailan GM V6... Sorry for the gloomy outlook...

Thats what I read somewhere to - maybe another thread on this forum - but I don't think it comes from the company itself. It does seem reasonable - except for the small fiat being killed.

Both projects were killed recently for GM related reasons:
- The 8c project has been killed since the model is too close to the Maserati 4200 GT. And since the break with GM the only way to sell Alfas again in the US is by using the Maserati dealerships (Alfa and Maserati are starting to work more intensely together).
- The Trepiùno project has been killed since it was based on an Opel chassis. And since Opel is owned by GM ...

I still think things are uncertain. These are rumors and unfinalized plans that are going around. A new article on italiaspeed about the Fiat Group execs at Geneva has a few interesting details - some good - some bad. The relevant one for this thread is that Montezemolo announced that Maserati's production capacity would be increased

"to allow for the assembly of Alfa Romeo models, although these are expected to be strictly low-volume cars."

If that turns out to be the case what else would it but the 8C?

Another new rumor in that article about the Trepiùno is that DCX is willing to cooperate since their Smart brand is losing money. So it may be based on the Smart.

They cant axe this, i wont allow it, its just not fair :( FINALY Alfa took it to their pride to reproduce a monster to fight the fight amongst the rest of the european supercars. If this bulging peice of brutal yet elegant artwork is put to rest, i think i speak for any Alfisti, it shall be a dark day in the revival of such a powerful icon.

off that subject
One thing that i still find amusing is the fact that ENZO FERRARI used to work for alfa about an odd 70 years ago.

BUT! if only these two, Ferrari and Alfa Romeo, could repair the F1 bonds that broke between the two, the already seeming invincible Ferrari F1 team, in my oppinion, would become immortal!  :D

I've heard the 8c project has been killed and restarted literally 10 times on here, until I see some official release from Alfa, I won't believe it.. Everyone can speculate, if Alfa misses one Autoshow on the circuit for the 8c, everyone starts talking about how its killed, haha. Anyway, it seemed like a definite go when it kept showing up more and more evolved, but with recent GM woes i wouldnt be surprised if it was scrapped,

The big problem i keep hearing about (again speculation).. is that it's being too much competition for the maserati 4200gt. lol umm have you actually looked at the pics of this car? its like hi.. lets design an unreal concept car, and then scrap it because its too good and will hurt sales of another one of our cars. talk about CONFLICT of Interest!!! haha. Does Alfa even have say in the cars its "allowed" to make?

My gut feeling is that the 8C will be produced. Its the only logical marketing decision. Both Maserati and Alfa need a marque car. Something to hang their hats on that make people take notice. And Maserati and Alfa need to get their pricing competitive with Mercedes and BMW respectively.

Maserati and Alfa are both going for clients that purchase more than a mode of transportation. Fiat is the Chevy. Maserati and Alfa are the premium brands. I doubt that they are concerned about pulling market share from Maserati based on 8C sales. They're ignorant if they are! Produce them both, making them different enough to appeal independently. And worry about taking market share from BMW/Mercedes/Jaguar/Lotus/Porsche. This kind of strategy is done every day with Nissan vs Infinity (i.e. 350z vs G35), Honda vs Acura, Toyota vs Lexus, Chevy vs Cadillac, Ford vs Lincoln. Some people like the rawness of a 350z...some like the luxury of a G35. Fiat/Alfa/Maserati would be wise to produce the raw, incredibly handling Alfa 8C and the plush powerful Maserati 4200GT. And I really cannot believe they would let the 8C's design fall into the trash bin when it's getting more press than when the Brera was introduced. I say that's hog wash. It doesn't make sense marketing wise, publicity wise, common sense wise, spiritually wise, karma wise......hell.....Its the next Stadale, for god's sake! :D

Best Regards,
John M

I realize that everything with Alfa is back and forth and it must be especially true with this car. However, of all the things that were in that article - this seemed to be the most encouraging and the most substantial. Montezemolo actually said they're going to increase production capacity at Maserati to build a low volume Alfa Romeo. He didn't say it was the 8C - but what else would it be? Also, this is not some magazine or some web editor or someone like me speculating but the CEO of Ferrari - and it seems like he usually has his way.

I also think it will not be a conflict of interest. For one thing Maserati probably already has capacity to build the car - or at least most of it - since they're supposed to be selling more cars than they are. Also having the 8C seems like a great way to get dealers to sign up in this country. They would start with this great showroom magnet and sell a high margin car. Also since it seems like the 8C is more of a sports car if buyers go to the showroom and find the 8C is too hard edged - the dealer could sell them a slightly softer Maserati. Or for most people they could go see the 8C and get interested in the 159/Brera. Besides Maserati is probably going to have a 5.0L V8 coupe/folding hardtop spyder soon - so there's less overlap.
