I sure hate to do this but moving overseas is requiring serious downsizing. For sale is a 1984 Alfa Romeo GTV6 Maratona with 83,000 miles. For those that don’t know, the Maratona was a special edition built in’84 with an aerodynamic body kit and badges. There were only 250 made. Mechanically they are the same while they’re not any faster but they look like they are. I’m the 3rd owner having purchased the car in Atlanta in 2005. When I bought the car it had 73,000 miles (all documented) on it. There was a rear main seal leak necessitating the removal of the engine. While the engine was out I decided to go through the whole thing. So it has new rings, bearings, seals, water pump, etc., etc. The heads were rebuilt by Vick’s Alfa. Since all of that was being done, I also went through the rear end (see photo) and took care of everything that needed tending to as well. There is not and never has been any rust in this car anywhere. Of course because the engine, tyranny etc. where out of the car I repainted it. All trim was removed as there are no tape lines around things. The interior is in great condition. I up graded the AC (it has the Arctic Air option) with a Sanden compressor, new lines, evaporator, dryer etc. I have up graded the headlights with relays as per Daniel Stern and top shelf headlights, bulbs etc. In this car you can see at night like no other. 3.0L alternator from 164 so you can actually drive at night in the rain with the AC on and the stereo. Recently put in an aluminum radiator from IAP and their aluminum overflow tank with up graded cooling fans. The car is lowered and on Konis and IAP springs. I have original wheels as well. What have I forgotten? Too many things to list. I have all the receipts. Ridiculous low offers will be cheerfully ignored. $9500. I almost hope none of you call but I have to sell the car!
I need to note that this car has been my daily (kind of) driver for 4 years. I only drive a few miles to the office and back and occasionally through the country side. The pictures show the level of work I did when "re freshing" the car. It's not fair to indicate that the car needed restoration. It looks now like a 1-2 year old car would look. Everything is clean but I do drive the car just not much.
Outstanding example and priced to sell. I wish I was in the market to buy... again. Good luck with the sale. I 'm sure it will find a home where it will be appreciated.
Forgot to comment on the price. I know you need to move the car since you are leaving the Country, but, this car is worth much more than you are asking for. At least in my books. I rather buy the Alfa than a 15K brand new Fiat. Thats just me.
Here are some additional pictures of the interior as several have asked. Would like to mention that the car is also on e-bay (sorry had to as time is short) and it has already met it's reserve. So....if you're interested please act quickly.
Really fine vehicle and I can't recall having seen a nicer example. I like the resto and tasteful upgrades you have done. That rear suspension out of the car is a thing of beauty to my eyes. Wish I could spare the cash to buy it. It is certainly worth the asking price when you even think what it would cost to replicate.
Best of luck with the sale. I hope it goes to someone that will take care of it and enjoy it.
I agree but time is short. I would rather sell to someone here. Call me and make an offer. If you want a good GTV6 this is it. There is no way this car could be duplicated for the price I'm asking. 903-525-9295
The car is spoken for. It might have brought more on ebay but I wanted someone from the Alfa BB to have it. Also with my move coming up I needed to know that the car has a new home. I'll let that person chime in if they wish.
Whoever is getting this car is a very lucky guy or gal! So few are restored with such meticulous care and with key (smart) upgrades. Garland, on the one hand i'm sorry for you to have to part with this Alfa, but on the other I hope where you're headed over-seas is a better place.
Well the car is planned to be picked up tomorrow so I gave it a good wash etc and went for a drive in the country. **** was that fun. As I love the sound of the engine so much I almost never run the AC prefering to keep the windows open and listen. But just to check the AC, I rolled the windows up for a bit and even in Texas at 102* it cooled it off acceptably. I'm already looking at the calssifieds! I know I'll get another someday. Maybe even find a 24v engine for it!!
