This year marks the 20th anniversary of the original event, then called the BP Alfa Classic, which was started by a group of local AROC members to replace the Wings and Wheels Classic at Wigram. To commemorate this as well as to acknowledge Alfa’s centenary the organisers have invited AROC members to display their cars at Ruapuna Sunday 6 February and to participate in a display lap around the circuit. A free event ticket will be provided for each car.

Being the 20th anniversary of the event, this years Classic promises to be the best yet, with a large number of NZ and overseas entries. As part of the 20 year celebrations, this year there will be a special children’s entertainment area as well as Canterbury Wine and Food displays.
We aim to put on a first class display of Alfas covering as much of Alfa’s 100 years history as possible. To succeed in this we need you and your car! All Alfas are welcome! Obviously any exotic and rare models are especially welcome and of course Giulia GTVs, Spiders, Alfettas etc but we also want to have examples of Suds, 33s, 75s etc that are seldom seen these days, as well as the newer FWD Alfas. Maybe you know non-AROC members with special Alfas – this would be a great time to invite them along. This is also a great time to get those idle racing Alfas (especially ones that raced at the BP Alfa in the early days) out from under those dust covers and to put them on display!

Here’s what to do:

•Please reply by post on the BB or by email ([email protected]) or phone 351 8211 advising what car you’ll bring.

•For each pre-arranged entry an event pass will be waiting for you at the gate (this covers the whole weekend although the display is only on the Sunday).

•Bring your car (maybe even washed and polished!) along on Sunday morning to include it in the display

•If possible, drive it around the track during the lunchtime parade

•Enjoy yourself!

Thanks,

Tom

Quick update: almost 30 Alfas will be on display on Sunday - no two the same! Some of the Alfas racing this weekend will join in the lunchtime parade, including a genuine GTAm.

SKOPE Update

Sensational turn out of cars - more than 40 Alfas in the parade covering the years from 1930-2011. Several very rare models including three Zagato-bodied cars (Gran Sport 1750, Giulietta SZ CT and SZ3.0). Wickedly hot day with temperature hitting 40C by midday.
