Since I sold all my Spiders and not having luck in finding the 4 door Alfa so far, could I just drive up to the meet in a non-Alfa? Do I need to register?
Yes.
and Yes.

and by participating in the event in "something else", you might just find that "4 door Alfa" you are looking for!!! :exclamation:

That's the ultimate goal :punk:
Yes, you do need to register to participate in the Alfa California Convention. For various reasons, many attendees do not bring their Alfas but you can still enjoy the fun with other Alfisti.
guess i am not comming, did not know you had to reg. for the drives..auto-x yes..but on plubic roads?

Drive on public roads as part of an official AROC sanctioned event, do something stupid, and the lawsuits start flying.

With regards to registration, the club is paying for insurance, in most cases for individual events, and also blanket coverage for the overall convention.

I can tell you, I'm helping out with the track events, and I've been working hard at it for a year now. That's only because I'm new here, the rest of the convention committee has been working hard at this thing for 2-3 years now.

These events don't plan themselves, and they are not free to plan, organize, and run. We've got to recover the costs somehow.

So that's why registration is required.

That said, you don't need to register to show up, hang out in the parking lot, talk Alfas, etc. You don't need to register to observe many of the events, the concours, etc. But we really wish you would, it's been a lot of hard work, and some of the venues are pretty expensive (Sonoma Raceway for 2 days? Ouch!).

If you want to participate, you need to register.

We would love to see you there, either way.

You'll be ok in the open:yes:

A whole lot less often than tornadoes/floods/black ice/dust bowls happen in Nebraska. The biggest hazard here is taxes.

...and the State Government :taz:
not so much worried about earthquakes as the high price of the fuel in California.

2013 Alfa Convention -- General Discussion

You've heard of "Shake 'N Bake Weather," we're in the bake process now, so who knows, maybe the shaking will follow just in time for the convention. ;) The weather forecasters are predicting triple digit heat Thursday through Tuesday. Actually, there are minor earthquakes in California daily that we don't even feel. Just a part of living in California.

Brian, thanks for mentioning one of the finer points in the registration rules. There are a few who show up every year just to walk the lots and chat, but don't officially register. Having said that, IINM, the goodie room and vendor rooms are supposed to be off limits to non-registrants. How well that is controlled varies by convention and has been extremely problematic at a couple of conventions.

Hi Cheryl,

I honestly don't remember any rules regarding the vendor rooms being off limits, but I'm not sure why we would want to lock any potential customers out of there. The vendors provide a ton of support for these conventions, I think we owe it to them to direct as many possible customers towards them as possible.

Of course, that is me speaking. I will get the official stance and report back. I can tell you, if there was such a rule, you wouldn't see me enforcing it..

I agree with you on that they should not be off limits. It's so hard for me to remember -- I know there was an issue in Portland that covered many different areas about non-registration with one particular individual, but it seems to me there was an issue at an earlier convention, where the registration table was located in the basement just opposite the foot of the stairs and outside the elevator.
the weather, for next week..only between 98 and 106 for the next 6 days( friday thru wensday )lows at night ( sacto ) 68-75...but it's a very ' dry ' heat..also with out ' earthquakes.. this would be a ' dead ' planet..we need them.... without plate tectonics.. we would not have what we have today..look at other planets, colse by..no plate tectonics...dead planets.., and california will not fall into the sea.. just a sliver of it is moving north....
100 F + temps...that close to San Fran...I heard July was the coldest month of the year there and to be sure bring warm clothing?

Just heard back from the grand poo bahs, we won't be checking registration badges at the entry to the vendor room. All are welcome and encouraged to support our vendors.

For those locals who don't have the $$$ to register, this is a very good chance to come and do some shopping where most of your favorite vendors will be showing their wares. Imagine a small shopping mall filled with Alfa stores, and no shipping!

Alfa California 2013 -- General Convention Discussions/Gas Prices

not so much worried about earthquakes as the high price of the fuel in California.
As a general rule, the gas prices are higher in the San Francisco area than in Southern California. I've been paying between $3.59 - $3.89 a gallon in Orange County. I haven't paid $4.00/gallon since late last year or early this year, although, I've heard from some of my friends in the Mid-west that prices are approaching that range due to refinery problems, delivery issues etc. Normally, we would see cheaper prices when we traveled through the Mid-West.
sacto gas prices.. fill up this morning..3.53 a gallon..near S.f. there is a gas station that i hit while driving up the cost.. take hy 1 to muir beach, just about 1 mile from hy 101, there is a am pm that allways has cheap gas( in the bay area. ).....update.. yesterday 68 and rain, today 92..wonderfull
The Napa Valley Driving Tour is sold out, however the Sonoma Wine Country Bus Tour still has openings. I think you would enjoy the Sonoma Wine Country Tour.
Thank you for the information...........
