hi guys, im a newbie here and was wondering if any of you can help me.
I already posted this in another section, i hope its ok.
im using a 164 24v engine in another car and for now intend to keep the original motronic ECU. i got some manuals to investigate the ECU connection with the instrument panel, and it looks like there is a serial synchronous transmission between them. anyone knows about this protocol? or used the engine with the original ECU without the instrument panel connected?
its a Motronic M1.7
any help is appreciated.
if the post is in the wrong section tell me where it should be please!
thanks in advanced!

Do you have the fuel injection wiring harness to go with ECU?

Assuming you do then pin 81 yellow-black wire a key wire as it goes to anti-theft to disable ECU. Pretty sure that wire has to be grounded to make ECU work.

Pin 8 light blue-red wire should be for check engine light in speedo cluster.

Pin 74 white wire is tach signal from ECU

Pin 73 gray-black wire is for tach amplified signal back from tach (signal shunting)

thanks!

that was fast steve! thank you.
i do have the wiring harness but its not here with me so i cant check if the info applies to the engine i have. i hope its like that and not the serial transmission i found on the alfa manual (which i just noticed is for a motronic 4.1).
anyways i was doing some preemptive research, but i wont have the engine prepped until next year. if everything goes well, ill post some photos.
thanks again!
