Hi Guys

Has anybody ever replaced their brake boosters with a generic aftermarket booster.

I only ask as the ones in my 1970,RHD, standing pedals, 1750 GTV have well and truly given up.
I have Bonaldi boosters and they are beyond salvaging.

I am aware that I can get replacements however the costs for them are exorbitant once shipped to Australia.

I have read that perhaps the boosters could be replaced with a VH44 style 'Generic' booster. There are several for sale for under $100.

Has anybody done anything similar?

I think the extra time and modification to the brake lines leading in to the new booster would make the effort not worth while, the orientation of the lines is different, Bonaldi has side line, other type vertical orientation.

I’ve seen a GTV/GT with a non-Bonaldi booster installed. They work the same, and the car stopped just fine....in fact the booster was a larger diameter than the Bonaldi, providing more boost.
I am also attracted to the fact that they have a bleed nipple on the nose.
Yes...you lose some originality, plus a bit of fiddling with brake and vacuum lines would be required. Oh yeah, and the mounting bolts are probably in different position too. More fiddling.

Was just thinking of extending the existing brake lines to get this aftermarket fit. When i can get sufficient funds together I can always just put the originals Bonaldi back in. A flare kit and some piping are less than $30.

I think I have seen a similar booster to the one I put up on the BB has a mounting bolt at the rear. I can just use the existing Bonaldi bracket for the front.
