Does anyone have experience with Afra? I ordered an Alfetta 3.0 script (for way too much money), however I got no response after payment, on the phone or trough mail... Is this normal with this company and it just takes them a while or is it more likely I'm scammed?

Thanks for any input!

AFRA in the day way the place. These days they offer a lot more repro parts and as you have experienced not inexpensive. They are legit, sometimes orders get misplaced, I’d give them a follow up email. Had a lot of great experiences with AFRA in the late 70’s and early 80’s, both mail order and in person visits.

AFRA is an example of trying to trade on their past. They used to have stuff you could not get anywhere, but precious little of that remains. However, their customer service behavior communicates a staunch belief in their infallibility. Which is no longer deserved.

In spite of nearly every order I received from them having at least one error, the only time they admitted to one was when the incorrect part was worth substantially more than the one I ordered and paid for. They offered to refund what I paid if I would pay the freight to return their error.

My brother and I visited them in 2005.
Yes, many years ago but they were very friendly.
They let us walk through the warehouses behind the office and discussed the cars they had in storage.

@ MHDB, how long have you been waiting for your part?

It is nice to hear people have actual experiences with them... Perhaps they just got old and it needs a bit of time ;-)

Been waiting for 10 days now... No response whatsoever.

My experience with them is you will place the order online, they will charge your credit card, if they have the part available they will ship it to you within a couple of days, if they don't have it available they will try to get it for you, but they won't tell you. I order something from them and it took them 2 months to get what I need it, eventually. So email them or even better calling them won't hurt the process, at least they will tell you why is taking so long.

I was there years ago with Fred DiMatteo on one of his Alfa Club tours. I was looking for an aluminum GTA trunnion for my GTV, with the hope and luck they had them. To my dismay I was informed they did not have any in stock, but they were expecting 6 in an hour or so. I had to leave but I paid for it and one of my buds on the trip offered to collect it and bring it home. That’s the kind of place AFRA was in the day.

There is nothing left of the Afra of the past. In Rome it is said: "they ate everything!!" (sé sò mmagnati tutto!)

I bought some stuff from them a few years back, and it was okay, I got the stuff as promised. Be aware that if your order doesn't get shipped before August 1st it won't be shipped until later in September. All of Italy shuts down for August.
It's just how they roll.
Bye
