Did a search, but it was not very clear which way to go. Has anyone done this? I have an 87 spider. Son needs to drive to college 5 hrs. Wed. Thanks!

Just cut a piece of wood the correct length between the gas pedal and the seat. Did that once when I drove to S. Dakota in my DD that doesn't have cruise.

Audiovox is the brand I installed. It came with a switch to mount on the dash or console. I though used an old 1/2 of an alfa window and hazard barrel switches in a 4 block to control mine.

I had a VW bus many years ago. It had a brick for CC - place the brick on the gas pedal...

A couple of pictures with one installed. This unit taps into the coil and brake light for speed and disengangement signals respectively. Also if you hit the clutch and motor is without load...it'll kick out too. The unit is very easy to install. Your greatest challenge will be hooking up the throttle cable to your linkage. The unit comes with several provisions, but you'll likely have to get creative.

Went online and entered "audiovox cruise control" on google, and first thing that came up was "Free kit from Audiovox. Entered my name and stuff, and then stopped. Anyone ever got this Free kit? any catches?

Last year one of the chain auto parts stores - either AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts - was having a closeout on the AudioVox CC. They were no longer going to stock them so they were on sale for ~ $30. Bunch of us motorcycle guys caught wind of that and scoffed up all we could find. Now I have a CC for my bike and one to install in the Alfa (as soon as I get a Roun Tuit...).

John, can you show us any details of the connection to the throttle? please.

JCWhittney sells them online for around $150 or so.

Rostra is another manufacturer to consider.

Just make sure if you go with something other than the audiovox that the servo will fit in the car and that the unit will draw input from coil (-) or pulse generator.

My throttle bell crank is totally different from yours with the linkages. Mine is cable. What you need to accomplish is:

1. find a way to secure the cruises throttle cable so that it is aligned to pull the spring loaded bell crank.
2. secure the throttle cable to the bell crank so that it won't foul the gas pedal linkage yet allow the cruise servo to rotate the bell crank.

Here is a picture of my setup...but again will be different from yours.

OK, thanks again. So, the brand to stay with seems to be Audiovox...and the CCS100? I should not gamble with other brands if the audiovox has worked with us guys. Pls confirm this ccs100 as the code...Thanks!

AudiVox CCS100 is one the what I have. ~$90 is list price. Sometimes you see them on eBay for less.

A couple of years ago the OVAROC chapter of AROC did a tech clinic where we installed this exact unit in a Spider. Straightforward, although you will need to make a bracket to mount the unit, and also buy a small vacuum reservoir, such as this one.

On the motorcycle I made a vacuum reservoir using a short piece (~6" long) of 2" diameter PVC pipe and two end caps. Drill and tap for a vacuum hose.

Hmmm, Enrique....checked it out...it is $70 more, no model # given though on the JC site, plus $13 for vacuum. Seems like probably an upscale model, dont know. But thanks for pointing out that it is an option!

Thats the one Joe....the 100. No vacuum reservior required. Everything needed is included in the kit.
