I'm putting a fire system in my Mustang and was wondering where the best place to put the fire pull lever is? Does it need to be easily accessed by the safety crew or just to the driver?

The same goes for the master shutoff switch...where should I put it?

For the fuel lines going from the fuel cell to the motor, should they be hard lines are braided? Where is the best place to run them, down the center of the car?

Tech guys...your input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm not a tech guy, nor I play one on TV, however, Paul Ellis is and he always techs my car, so this is what I've learned:

He recommends but does not mandate that the fuel lines inside the engine compartment should be hard metal. The issue is fire, and braided lines are still going to melt in case of flames. (Mine are not metal yet)

The power shut off switch should be well marked on the outside of the car, to be reached by the safety crew. However, I have found that if it is mounted on the driver's front fender would be a lot easier for me. I have sat in the car a million times only to realize that I have no power, and have to go all around the car to get to it. I think the faster you can reach it, the safer as well in case of a misshap.

As far as the fire system pull lever, mine is on the center tunnel, easily accessible to both the crew and driver, but I can't quote Paul on this.

Cheers
Jorge
