My 94 Spider has a broken alternator belt. The shop manual says I should drain the coolant before removing the A/C serpentine belt so I can put on a new alternator belt. Is it necessary to drain the coolant before removing the belts? If so, why?
I’m not anywhere near the car, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t have to drain the coolant to change the alternator belt. You should just be able to loosen the PS pump and get the serp belt off the crank pulley and out of the way.
