I have a 1991 alfa spider. The speedometer does not work. I know of 3 other 91 spiders with speedometers that don't work. Any trouble shooting suggestions? Thanks, Jim

Speedo cable is the first thing I would check. Not uncommon that they break. Mine did.

One end is connected to the transmission.

The other end goes into the sending unit behind this box. Follow the wire from the transmission. Driver side.

Remove the box and unscrew the wire. Start the car and see if the wire in the middle, which turns the sender which turns the speedo is spinning.

If not, thats your issue and change the wire. 91 speedo cables are not the same as previous years, they are shorter, so make sure you order the right one.

Good luck,

Vin

I'd also check fuse #7 (counting from left)...easy to do, because if the heater fan and reverse lights also don't work then that fuse is bust.

Yup, check that fuse first. Way easier than checking the cable.

Thanks SS4. Sometimes we overlook the simple fixes and jump ahead.
