8C on cover of Road&Track

The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is on the cover of the new Jan.'08 issue of Road & Track magazine. I just picked up a copy yesterday. There's a good write up on the car and styling analysis. The press seems to like it!

The last time Alfa was on the cover was in 1989 when they featured the limited prodution SZ!

UK's CAR Magazine road tests an 8C along with a Scuderia and a Mazer Coupe this month.

but very cool to hear it made the cover, im going to pick mine up soon,

Highlights : Broke the R&T braking distance from 60-0mph record by 2 feet.. Yes that tops the Ceramic braking Enzo. heh.

When was the last time an Alfa was given a review or a full article in R&T? I believe it was the Feb. 1999 issue. a detailed article of Keith Goring's former Stradale Tipo 33...?
I was lucky to see the 8C at the Alfa convention, and found it stunning. It's good to read that R&T liked it so well, and keep hearing that a Spider version is in the works for 2009. I haven't subscribed to R&T in years (just too many mags), but this is a great reason to mosey on down to my local newsstand to pick up the occasional copy,... and play the lottery while I'm at it! ;)

Best regards,
Nice writeup in R&T.

The other car mags and online auto news sites have mad ALFA love too.
Lets' hope that ALFA can capitalize on the goodwill that the reviewers are
showing.

Especially if they plan to build a factory here.
I really did read that last night didn't I ?

sho enuf. here it is:

You'll need to hit the lottery to afford an 8C. But I also enjoyed reading about it in R&T. As to them liking it, remember that they panned the Duetto severely!
Does Alfa plan on bringing any affordable models stateside? The 8C totally rocks, but from a price perspective, this will not be a volume model which will help re-establish a US presence. Unless some models arrive at the BMW, Acura, Lexus, price point, don't worry about a sparse Fiat/Alfa dealer network -they won't need many....
Well, only 500 8Cs are being produced worldwide, with 90 of those being destined for the U.S. It's not a volume car for sure, but the idea has always been that this "supercar" will bring focus to the marque and spearhead Alfa's re-entry to the U.S. market. The expectation is that Alfa will sell sedans, coupes and Spiders in the States.

Best regards,
Good numbers there, Enrique. Weren't we told by the Maserati rep at the Concours that all the US bound 8C's were pre-sold? I do recall thinking it would make no difference even if we did hit the lottery because no US cars were available!

But WOW :D what a gorgeous car! I don't think there's a bad angle anywhere on the car, frankly. It's distinctive, fluidly Italian in the classic sense without appearing dated, and immediately recognizable as an Alfa from any vantage point. The interior is downright exciting. The engine looks like an engine instead of some molded plastic faux mechanical crap. Ain't nothing else like the 8C, folks.

If you as a company are going to reintroduce your car lineup into a hot market like North America, then there's no better drum roll than the 8C!

Ah,... yes Dave, but the R&T article mentions what others have also: that there are plans for an equally limited number of special edition Spider 8Cs! :) I'm an optimist, so I'm gonna play the lottery every week! :D

Best regards,
Where can you fit the ski racks? Hopefully, Alfa has this worked out as well!
Didn't check out the 8C shape in relation to skis, but I can tell you that I used to take my '84 Spider on ski trips. I have a rack that fits on the side lip of the trunk lid, and holds two sets of skis. The front bracket is taller than the one in the back, so the skis are carried at an angle, and don't interfere with the top or the trunk. Just don't touch that vinyl window with a ski edge!

Best regards,
Apologies if this was posted under another heading. Check out the video = click to page 8 (82 in the magazine). I hope the link works.....
