Got my new Autoweek yesterday, and was rather dissapointed that there was 0 coverage of the 8C release, the Convetion (which they did know about), or Meadow Brook (which they had a 3 page pre-spread on in the 7/30 issue).

All of that happened last Week. Which based on AutoWEEK's name, I would have assumed that big news that happened in a given week would have been between the covers.

I shot a note off to them asking.

Dunno, maybe next week??

I looked too, really thought I would see something!

By the way, does the Detroit Club or the AlfaOwner want any Convention Pics? I will gladly send them files from the ones I shot, free, if y'all just let me know what pictures you want! :)

like Ozzy

Man, I remember when I was in high school and Ozzy Ozbourne had just released Ozzmosis and it hit #4 on the Billboard charts in its first week. I was so sure that I would see one of his videos from that album on the MTV Top 20 video countdown. I was so bummed when I woke up on Saturday morning only to find out that they totally shunned Ozzy and his video for the single "Perry Mason" wasn't even shown. I was extra mad because I even woke up early Saturday morning to catch a glimpse of the new video. Keep in mind, this was way before the idea of downloading music videos had popped into anyones head because it was 1995. You know that quote, "Progress always comes too late"? Well, it's never been truer.

Yeah, I think the 8C is a fantastic car. It should not only be on the cover of Autoweek every week until it comes out in America but it pretty much needs to be on the cover of every auto magazine this month. I think its that good. It should also be voted "best car ever built" by somebody that people would listen to.

Lead time is what this is called. A paper even a daily, has to have time to lay out articles and fit in major stories as they develop. I suspect that AutoWeek might have a 2 week lead time to get articles to press, a week for the website. Only a week has gone by since the convention, most likely they are writing press copy and chosing pictures for the upcoming release. There will also be driving comments by all that got a chance to have a spin at the wheel. Being it isn't German or Japanese, I suspect we might see some bias. Then again, with this car being the new 8c we might get glowing reports. Standby!

Lets see, there was a Busch race in Montreal that got covered in the new issue- that was Sunday the 5th. Autoweek just like SI- something happens in a week, it gets coverage that following week. Everything that happened between July 30-Aug 5 should have been in the Aug 13 issue.

And since there were a few websites that had the press introduction posted the same day, I don't buy that either- Autoweek got scooped on a new car by the Detroit News??

And Arna- I'm not saying that it should be headlined everywhere, that's just stilly. But zero coverage? That's my issue. Just a paragraph would have been nice.
