89 Spider Veloce Hood Latch plate

This 86 being stripped and sold off from down below in the parts for sale subsection might have one to offer.

If not, I just got one on Ebay for $13.99 from an out fit in Georgia. Works like a charm. They also included the firewall mechanism.

If you want to tempt fate...Once I got mine open, I took out the hair pin spring from the receiver part on the hood and closed the hood. The interior lever worked and the hood popped open. MAKE SURE YOUR LEVER AND CABEL ROTATE THE SPEAR THAT ENGAGES THE HOOD !! MAKE SURE THAT SPEAR MOVES WHEN IT ENCOUNTERS RESISTANCE AND THAT THE CABEL IS FIRMLY ATTACHED. INSTALL A BACK UP CABEL.

Considering its the hairpin that actually keeps the hood down on the spear, and thus latched shut, it's not a huge surprise that it opened.

What's creepy is what was causing it to stick down when the hairpin wasn't there for the latch to engage to begin with?

I was surprised it stayed latched shut. Go figure. My hood got stuck shut because one side of the hair pin broke and caught on one side of the spear.

I don't recall you saying it would stay shut sans hairpin though.

This was recent. Another adventure in hood land. It was quite a positive latch, was tempted not to replace the receiver. Ebay had one for $13.99 and that included the firewall part as well.
