Good morning, my 88 quad has been sitting around for a few months now, needs front brakes. I took it for a drive around the block a few times and noticed that when brake pedal is pressed or tapped, it stays down and won’t come back up bringing car to a halt. I have to reach down and pull it back up to get car going again. Any idea what this could be? Feel a rumbling coming from back tires that goes away somewhat with continued driving. Could the calipers be stuck?

even with stuck calipers, your pedal should come back up.
my first thought would be the brake booster.....remove the vacuum hose from the booster and plug the end at the intake plenum so you do not get an air leak.

Go for a drive around the block and see if the pedal acts normally now...?

!!CAUTION: you now have unboosted brakes, so you will have to press harder to stop!!

I have had the same problem when i bought my first alfa in 2014. I disconnected the brake booster and that was the end of that problem!
