The driver's seat is broken. The seat back will go backward when you lean back. Since I am 6'2" tall all I do is stick a towel behind seat to limit travel. It actually works.
However I would like to fix seat. Has anyone had the tilt mechanism apart? Are they usually repairable? Is it easy to disassemble?
Is this a common issue?

Any input is appreciated.

thanks

I have not taken one apart, but it should be relatively easy to replace, I have taken mine off for a recover. There should be enough bad seats out there that you could pick one up cheap.

I just had my drivers seat apart but didn't look at the back adjuster. There are 4 bolts holding the seat in, so it's a 2 minute job to take it out. We recovered the bottom so had to take the 2 pieces apart and that was 2 bolts and some prying to pop the side plates off. Once you have the seat out it's all right in front of you.

it is likely that the toothed ratchet in the side hinge has broken. They never hold again for long if you try to weld them...best to try just find a good spare somewhere.
