01544 606065

Strange situation here. I can't identify but I don't think it is original. Also I ordered an A/C compressor from IAP. Wouldn't fit on engine. Had to order with manufacturer part number from another source.

Please help.

thx

That engine number matches with a 1986 Spider.

Mine is an early 86, build date of 10/85 and the engine number is 01544 604425.
The 01544 is the engine "family" number and the last set is the engine serial number.

So if yours was built later in 1986, it would appear to be original.

Thanks very much. Do you have a link to a source that I can print out and file? Believe me - it is not that I don't trust you.

Still not sure why the mounting bosses on the engine block didn't fit the compressor that I bought from IAP. I have pic of the two compressors side by side. The tabs are different for both. I thought I might have a European or Canadian model where the used a different A/C compressor. I took the mfg part number off the compressor and found it on the web. Had to return the other unit to IAP.

Thanks again

Alfa has always seemed to use an a/c compressor that was unique to there engines. I doesn't surprise me that you had problems getting one.
