Hey Folks:

What is the purpose of the bracket shown below in the photo? It is on the throttle bar that runs across the firewall. It is located between the brake booster and the exhaust manifold.

It moves up and down with the throttle.

Should there be something in that rubber grommet?

I asked the same question earlier this year when I went to remove the assembly to change the bushings. Somebody mentioned what its purpose was - needed for earlier Spiders and carried thru in our vintage, despite not being needed. Needless to say I cut mine off, leaving just enough of it to still attach the spring that attaches to it.

A cut off wheel on your die grinder makes quick work of this unnecessary item.

I like to clean up those sort of things and get them out of the way

This attaches to the cruise control on the earlier cars. Real handy on long trips.

Yes I know I am going to get some grief for using it that way...
