I come back from out of town, jump in the Alfa, turn the key, NO JOY! The signs and symptoms were the same as an injection ECU failure I had at one time. Cries of anguish. Olympic quality tool throw. NO! NO! NO! Beat head on oak tree (do not recommend this as a repair strategy). Sit, soak brain in good vodka, and think (much better strategy).

Try a good ECU (fail). Possibly a power source issue to the ECU? Start at ECU and work backwards. Yeah, definitely a power issue. What did I find? See pic, note splice. Rotted and corroded. Clean break from son fiddling with the battery with + cable in very poor condition. Son placed in oubliette with gators and rats. Car runs, but need to replace the + cable.

QUESTION(S): 1. Source of new + cable?
2. How much of a PITA is this repair? (i.e., should I just stick with the splice)

Many thanks in advance. Must go now and throw chicken bones and gruel to the boy.

I see three cables that probably go to the battery. Which one are you speaking of?
The biggest one should go to the starter.
The red one might/should/maybe go to the alternator. Is that the splice (Yellow) you are concerned about? )
The third black off the battery terminal might go to upgraded lights. or horn, or fan.
I hope there is a fuse on this last one (Preferable near the battery.)

This is the connector I have used with good results. Believe it or not I got it from Wally World.
