74 & 78 Spider parts FS & Trade!

Just bought a running '74 Spider parts car.
I bought it mostly for the steel bumpers that are going onto my '78 Spider.

The '74 has terminal rust in the rockers.

I've tried to get an idea of parts values from searching this forum.
I would rate that effort as unsuccessful since searching several pages does not yield enough result to obtain a consistent trend.

I really do not need four engines, three trans, three LS rears, etc.

So I'm going to say "Make Offer" on:

The '74 engine and complete SPICA system.
I need the starter and distributor from the engine for a rebuilt that I am keeping.
Supply good exchange units and the originals can stay on the engine.
Same deal on the cam cover, I like the early more smoothly cast cam cover and have later type to swap.
If you want the early cam cover bring me another early unit.
Engine is still in the chassis and I intend to test run it before removal.
Will try to take some video, or if you want to hear it run make arrangements SOON.
I will also set up my ALLEN SEA and try to record the results.

I also have '79? short block to sell, no distributor.

2L crankshaft.

A later head that needs work, no cams.

Spare cam cover.

Spare transmission minus the bell housing as I use it on my test stand.

Small loop transmission mount/tail piece.

'74 "K" piece as required to fit the front bumpers.

Set of FIVE Cromodora wheels from the '74 Spider.

LS Spider rear end.

Front and rear '78 rubber bumpers.

LOTS of Misc. 74 bits and pieces, email with wants.

I will be keeping the soft top and windscreen from the '74.

Cash is almost worthless these days as proven by the asking prices I see for so many Alfa parts.
So trade is good too.

I need an excellent '74 grill heart assembly, or at least the casting portion.

I need NEW tires for several vehicles, from Alfa to Chevy truck.
Also restoring a '78 Alfa Spider, '68 El Camino (OK, it's a hot-rod), Triumph GT-6/Buick V6 (Mini-Cobra Coupe), '69 Land-Rover Series 88", 81 Chevy C-30, and then there's this Tatum Kit Car....

So I may trade for non-Alfa parts too.

More pics available on request.

I thought they are all the same for Spiders?
There is a complete pan on my spare short block.
The pan on this '74 looks excellent but I want to sell that engine complete.

Got the '74 engine running.
Fired right up and idles at just over 700 RPM
Excellent warm oil pressure, nearly 30 PSI at idle and just under 70 PSI at speed.
No sign at all of water in the oil or oil in the water.
Good acceleration, a tiny bit ragged at sustained speed.
Scope shows the dwell is correct but cleaning the cap and new plugs would probably help as the voltage spikes are a bit uneven.
Will try to do a compression check on Wednesday.
No smoke!
I'm still learning how to use the SEA so did not get to check the timing.
The SEA wants me to hook up a vacuum connection but I do not see any place to do that since this is a centrifugal advance only distributor.

No way to check the trans as the clutch hydraulics are stuck.

Odometer shows fairly low mileage but I'm not certain it still works.

The rust in this car seems odd, the tire well appears to be very good so will be cut out and welded into my '78.

I really should sell as much of this car as possible.
If not I may just have to build something custom from it.

Still open to offers.

SPICA is sold to a board member.

Fee-Bay items end today, lots of looks but few bids despite mostly very low starting bid amounts.

Suggestions for pulling the windscreen glass?
Prefer not to cut the seal if possible.

Fee-Bay was a bust, gave away a nice short block assembly for only $100.00.

So it's pretty much all back to looking for somewhat fair offers here.

Worked on stripping the '74 tonight.

Anyone want an original round bodied Jack?
How about rubber floor mat parts?
Tired vinyl seats may be available too, need to get them out to see how good the frames are.
Top bows?

Engine and trans are out, necessary to remove the SPICA pump.

Will now try to break down the rest of the car quickly.
Most of the dash components were missing when I got it, no console.

How are the floor mats?
Rubber!
Piece in front of the seats is missing, some other pieces are excellent, piece across the rear floor has a couple of small tears.
Still removing some of it such as the door sill covers which are fine.

Richard how about the 2 larger hoses that connect to the vapor separator? One goes to cam cover the other to airbox -- are they in good shape and available? What about the oil vapor separator?

EDIT - Also the brake proportioning valve --under the hood that triggers the brake warning light if one side loses brake pressure?

thanks, bob
