Hi all,

Sorting through all the little gremlins post-rebuild and at idle, I hear this popping sound. It seems to be coming from near the brake boosters, but it seems to affect the idle. It almost sounds like the small diaphragms are popping or something? It could also be electrical as it affects the idle. Any thoughts?

Engine was just timed, the noise only appears at idle.

There are no smells or smoke or indication that anything is burning.

Check out the Video:

I would use a hose to pin point the noise.

If it is coming from the brakes I would guess the check valve from the vacuum hose. Try disconnecting the line and plugging the motor side.
I noticed that the bolt securing the check valve and port to the other booster was quite loose. I tightened it up snug and this may have taken care of the problem, we'll see!
