My console lights are very dim. Is there an adjustment for this? Or do I have a bad connection?
Thank you for your post. I think you are correct, my wiring is mixed up. I played with head lights on thursday using a volt meter. I think the problem is at the relay.. when they painted the car, they must of connected the wires incorrectly to relay. The high beam is turning on low beam and low beam the high beam. When parking lights on are, fog light switch turns on the low beam LOL.. Will play with it tomorrow some more.Hi,
My car is a '74 and I don't know if any of what I say is different for a '69:
- have you checked if you have a dimmer for the dash lights ? The '74 does, it has a spiralling white arrow on it if my memory isn't off (car's downstairs in the garage, I didn't go to check).
- re the high beams / low beams / fogs, at least I think your car's wiring has been changed. I believe my car works correctly according to the wiring diagram. It does this:
Lever down is for high beams.
Fog beams will go off when high beams are on, regardless of what you do with the fog light switch.
Fog lights will work with the fog light switch whenever at least the parking lights are on (if I remember correctly), but the high beams are NOT on.
Lever up is the position for low beams.
