3RD Annual NADS Tour to Galena
Dear NADS Participants:
I invite everyone to join us for our 3rd Annual NADS Tour to Galena, Illinois. I would like to first thank those that are considering driving the tour. A reminder that the tour will be driven in honor of Alex Battistoni (Marco Battistoni’s boy) and each car should make a $25 donation to NADS -National Association of Down Syndrome.
This set date is Sunday May 22th and this year, we will be joined by the Porsche 356 club. Wally Wright is helping put together a few of their members for a memorable drive. Meeting point will be the same, Oasis on I-88 just before the Annie Glidden Road. It's 31.5 miles West of Winfield Rd., make sure to NOT drive thru it, otherwise you will get off at Annie Glidden and come back. Plan on being there between 8:45 / 9:00 AM. I will have a set of maps for each car, we expect approx. 12 cars. I would like all participants to please respond back if you are coming or just call me on my cell at 630-542-9559.
Upon leaving the Oasis, we will drive approx. 50 miles West on 88 until we cross Rt. 30 for the second time. We will exit on 30 West at the Lincoln Hwy West exit (NOT Rock Falls exit).
30 West through Morrison and into Fulton where it merges into Illinois Route 84. (Go North)
We will then take Route 84 North all the way up along the Mississippi River through Savanna and continue North until it merges onto Route 20
Proceed North on 84 /20 into Galena. We will then gather for a Group lunch at "One Eleven Main", it's very clean and they seemed to have a decent lunch menu. Please send me a note ASAP, I need to reserve tables. Galena is very beautiful, with small specialty shops. Their "Main Street" is amazing.
Some of the better roads are actually coming out of Galena. At approx. 2:15 we will begin the second stage of the Tour. Right out of Galena, take a right into W Stagecoach Trail. Beautiful and amazing sceneries! We will drive West toward Route 78.
South on Route 78 to Route 20. At this stage, those that want to drive directly East toward Rockford / I-90 can do so.
We will continue down South on Route 78 through Pleasant Valley and back into Morrison where we started and back East on I-88.
