Advance auto parts has the 3M Leather and Vinyl Repair Kit on sale for $2.95. if it's in stock in store to you can pick it up for free.

I used this kit on the arm rest of my wife's Lexus and it turned out really well. It requires some patience and a bit of artistic skill. Best for small, non-structural repairs to leather and vinyl.

I've used that also, and it does work well, and holds up over time.

Do any of you know if it would hold up on a motorcycle saddle bag lid cover, of leather?
Just curious, it would be exposed to the weather during riding. Sounds like something for me to try.
I don't think it would hold up well if exposed to a lot of UV light - unless you painted over it with something like a SEM leather paint. That's what I did on a small burn hole on the vinyl seat of my Spider, but I was painting the whole seat anyway.
