Yes, of course I got a receipt from Paypal. I would bet that you really didn't get your registration processed... This is how it should go:

1. Place your order by selecting all the "numbers in the boxes".
2. Click on "Order Now".
3. Fill in the "Registration Information".
4. Click on "Checkout with PayPal"
5. The PayPal Logon Screen will show up AND you must enter your Paypal id and password. (This is the step that seems to have failed based on your description.)
6. The PayPal payment screen will show up, with the $$ Total.
7. Approve the payment.
8. PayPal will return a confirmation/transaction number, and indicate that you should get an e-mail.

Check your e-mail, and you have nothing from Paypal, then try it again...

Well..........I'm not using Paypal. I'm trying to buy using my Visa card without going through Paypal, it keeps saying they can't take it?

Is there any way to register without having to go through Paypay?

Me too... Just registered this morning. I assume the convention website will eventually have a revision or editing function, and multiple meal choices will be available.

I just called Budsy, who will call John M. The KY bunch will be sure to get registered for the time trial event. This is gonna be another great convention...

I just completed my registration on-line... Fast and easy - great job CAROC! The '84 Spider will participate in the TT, autocross, and concours. Plus, she will driven to the convention!

You may want to let the person in charge of the online registration know that he/she needs to have a banquet meal choice per attendee. Right now you can only select one choice per registration... (And my wife doesn't usually go for the "cholesterol groups". )

Let's Use This Thread for the Convention

Hi guys, I just posted this in another thread. From now on, I'll try to use this thread to post all Convention stuff.


The hotel info. was forwarded to National but the link never made it on CAROC's registration form. Thanks to you guys, that link is being corrected as we speak. The hotel is also getting a new as*h*ole as we speak.

The rates are as follows (we worked extremely hard in getting these rates locked:

Single occupancy: $119.00 per night
Double occupancy: $129.00 per night

It's a Marriot Resort and has practically everything including a golf course and a car wash (NOT).

Please continue to let us know what else goes wrong.

It's probably a good idea to respond on the CAROC thread from now on, that way it will be easier to track down info. and correct.

I got my hotel reservation! I requested the Presidential Suite, but they told me it wasn't available at the discount rate. So, I asked how did they expect to attract us VIPs with our fancy cars?

The discount rate applies starting Wednesday, the 18th... I would arrive on Tuesday, but I'd have to pay the $239. I don't believe the majority would be interested in getting their by Tuesday, but I would think that BoD members, and us "BoD meeting party-goers" , would like to arrive on the 17th...

I agree; anyone that is part of the board or that wishes to attend the board meeting would most likely be flying in the night before, driving in the night before etc. based on the time the board meeting starts on Wednesday. Is there any way we can get the additional day at the discount rate?

Another consideration would be those that come in for pre-activity drives if they're going to be back prior to the discount rate period or if they stay one night prior to departing on the drive excursion.

Board meetings are so much fun, everyone should come and party and get to meet who they've elected and see them in action. You will find that most of them are genuinely approachable and interested in listening once you meet them in person as long as you don't disrupt the protocol of the meeting. The unapproachable aspect may be those that have never met them in person, been to a board meeting, or a convention; I don't ask people who e-mail with their concerns, if they've ever met them in person.

Too Bad that the Board nixed Road America!

Just watched the video of the Autobahn North track. Looks nice, but flat. I wish that the board would reconsider and allow the track day to be at Road America (although it seems to be too late for that now). What their rational was, I'm not sure, as its only about a 2 hour drive from hotel. Most people would give an arm and a leg to drive that track, and it would be more interesting. But it is what it is, I guess.

Let me know if you need any help for the events. I'm in the Wisconsin chapter, and would be willing to help on the track or rally events.

I don't know about driving two hours each way... Tech inspection opens at 7 AM, so that would mean leaving by 5 AM, which means being up earlier than that. Then returning after the GTA reunion race that ends at 8 PM, means that we'd be lucky to be back by 10:30 PM. Conventions don't have a leisurely schedule for those of us who take part in the TT, autocross and concours, so I much prefer a track that is as close to the hotel as possible... Just my thoughts, as a mere enthusiastic participant...

Hi Tom, bring an Alfa and enjoy some good food for a change.

Really, Autobahn is a better suited for Alfa Romeos. Our club has runs Road America every year for the last 25 odd years and that hasn't brought out many members from the Wisconsin chapter. We need as many neighbors as we can get for this Convention, it's going to be a great party and you don't need to drive across the country.

The coming "Owner will have some info. on each event. The River Valley Tour happens on the same morning of the Time Trial Event and ends at the Autobahn Track. If you sign up for it, the fee will include free touring during the lunch break at Autobahn.

The regular "Bus Trip to Downtown Chicago", entails being dropped off at the heart of the City and taking the afternoon to enjoy the landscape at your own leisure. If you stick around, the "Skyline Boat Cruise" will go into the night.
