Hi everybody,

I'm going to launch the reproduction of radio cover for 2000 et 2600.

I have already commissioned a company to produce a 3D of the parts based on my original 2600 cover.

Here is the first draft (many details should be corrected):

Rectangle Furniture Bench

Line Font Auto part Automotive lighting Automotive parking light

Then I will launch the production of silicon moulds and produce parts.

Depending of the result, I will produce the mould and the part myself or I will ask a specialize company to do it.

I have no idea of the production cost yet, but it will be expensive (I assume it won't be higher than 1000 euros).

So before, I would like to know who could be interested in such parts (price will depend on quantities)

Serge

Hi,

I am interested in 2x radio cover 2600 if reproduction is exact copy from original

rgds Franco
Hi Franco,

Yes, parts will be exact copy of original.
I need between one or 2 month to produce the first parts. Is that acceptable for you ?
Whoa

I think the price of my very good condition, but unused, radio delete plate is about to go up. We've been thinking original, near-perfect plates were selling around $200 - $300 USD. I paid less than $100 for mine about 3 years ago.

Is there really a market for these?

I have been hoping to get one of the black ones that I think were found mainly on the sedan.

Hi Serge,

Looks like a great start.

How do you plan to get the shiny silver and gold on the plate? I have not found a way to do this yet. My attempts have come out speckly or dullish.

Also, I am not sure - all I have are pictures, but I think there is a weave type pattern behind the numbering.

Hi Doug,

Regarding colors, I will make tests with gold and silver paint.
Could you please give me synonymous of "speckly or dullish". I can't understand these 2 words.

You are right, there is a weave type pattern behind the numbering. A sort of diamond grid.

Hi Don,

I don't know if there is a market for this parts, but if you find a nice example for 100 $, please call me.:)
Once again, price will depend on quantity, I will soon be able to estimate the price of molding (quotation ongoing).

Serge.

Best translations I can come up with (thanks to Google translate):
speckly (from speckle) = granuleux, tacheté (ne pas homogène)
dullish (from dull) = un peux terne (ne pas brilliant)
Serge,

We have seen the red "most winning car in history" blah blah plates come up from time to time. The asking prices have ranged from $500 down to the $90 I paid for mine. I've only ever seen one black one offered for sale, and I don't believe he got the $500 he was asking for it. I note that the parts book lists different plates for US and European markets, but not sure which is which. We also wondered if the black was for the Sedan, where racing history might be of less interest to the elderly grandmother driving.

Anyway, I really had no interest in acquiring one, as I like using the factory hole for a radio so I can listen to Beethoven, Piaf, or Jeff Beck while driving around sans capote. To my surprise, one appeared on eBay one day and I was the only bidder at $90. To my great surprise, it was located less than 5 miles from my house here in Carson City. This, of course, makes me wonder where is the rest of the car that it came off of? No success finding it so far.

My personal suspicion is that 1,000 Euros might not find any buyers. They have successfully sold for less than $500 USD, perhaps $200 - $300. I've not heard of any achieving $500.

Still - the more we can support top-level restorations, the more interest these old cars will generate.

Cheers.

Thanks for translating those words.

I agree that a resonable goal for a reproduction part would be around 200 to maybe 400 USD depending on the quality of the reproduction.

Doug
I think what serge means is the cost of producing the plate will be around 1000 euros, I don't think he means each one ,good luck to any one making parts for these cars, I have been driving myself mad trying to find parts. cheers Chris

This is it. My English is too poor and I'm not always very clear.

Regarding colors, I will submit the project to a professional printer. He may help me to identify the good type of painting.

Anyway, I'll keep you informed.

Serge,

You are much better at English than I am at French!

It will be nice to see what you come up with for painting. I have several castings that need the shiny paint. Horn emblem and wheel emblems.

Doug
Salut, je prends une en version 2600. Merci de me communiquer le prix et le delai, Cordialement Jurgen
There is currently a rare USA spec "World Champions" radio blank-off plate listed on ebay! The seller has several 2000/2600 items and uses the same IRONBLOCK 'handle' as me:)

Probably way too cheap!

Maybe I am just brain dead today, but just how does one mount the eBay block off plate that Mark references above? I see two small holes and a third hole with a plastic "disk". This just looks odd to me for some reason but I can't say why.

Arno, this post shows an installed plate.
Thanks Ruedi, I knew I was brain dead. What threw me off was the missing Alfa Romeo emblem on the eBay piece (the "mystery" third hole). Log this one in the "duh" column...

After you posed the question, I wondered myself how the blank off plate was mounted to the dash over the cut-out for the radio. I could not remember any additional hardware or plates over the holes for the radio dials. Once I saw from the back of the dash it all made sense.

Hello
I am interested in one radio cover 2000
Thanks
The "Third Hole" is not a dash mounting hole. It is used to mount the cloisonné badge to the plate.
