The 2.5 liter gives you an extra 500 rpm to play with because the redline is set at 6300 instead of 5800. For a track car I would use the 2.5 liter, for street driving, the 3.0. The 2.5 liter ecu never went lean on my car (with a wideband AFR meter) but had/has stumbling issues when it's cold and at hesitates at partial throttle just like the old 2.5 liter did, and when puttering around town (even when the AFR is good..not sure what's goign on here).
