I have been looking at a wrecked 1991 Spider with just under 11000 original miles on the car and thinking about purchasing the car to fix up a 1991 Spider Automatic I'm purchasing. I will probably use the door mirrors and a lot of interior & trunk parts to make my new purchase look new again. I'll also be using the soft top and frame from the parts car. Since the car I'm purchasing is an automatic and the parts car is a 5 speed there will be a lot of mechanical parts that are like new that I will need to part with. The entire rear of the car from the windshield back is fine and in perfect condition. I was wondering if there are enough people who need body and mechanical parts to offset the costs for me. I'm not looking to make money on this deal just make enough to offset my costs on purchasing the parts car. If someone has a need contact me and we can discuss. I'm new to Alfas so it might take me a little time to figure out what is a fair price and then what is a very good price. If I can raise enough interest then I'll purchase the car and part out what I do not plan to use. BTW, I need the A/C system also. Car located in the southwest.

You won't make money on the deal, and unless you use the parts yourself, in the foreseeable future you will more than likely offset very little of your cost. As time goes by, you will be able to offset more, but that means that you will need to store and classify them properly. For an informal gauge take a look at the threads on this BB and on ebay were people are parting out cars...

Best regards,

Enrique,

I had planned on using the entire dash and interior along with all the trunk carpets since the wrecked car is like new. Also planned to use the soft top and frame which are also like new. A PO replaced the power mirrors on my automatic car so I was going to use the ones off the wrecked car. When the A/C compressor on my automatic car went bad the PO removed it along with all the brackets and used a new belt that is for a car without A/C. The wrecked car has all the A/C parts and they are in mint condition. Figure I could use the parts to restore the A/C on my car. Just the parts I'm using add up to what I can purchase the wrecked car for so I figure it is worth buying. The seats are in mint condition as is everything in the wrecked car. I just don't want all the leftover parts sitting around my house. If there are some Alfa owners in the New Mexico/Arizona area that could use the parts that I don't need I can sell them at a much discounted price and they can get a great deal and I can still get back some of my money. I have looked on ebay and parts don't seem to sell well from what I can tell. Any reason for this? I will sell parts very cheap just to get rid of the car fast. If anyone reads this and needs parts please contact me. I would rather have most of the parts sold before I buy the wrecked car.

Thanks
