I have owned this car since 2005 and have had most repairs and maintenance done professionally. I'd like to say that all the issues have been taken care of and that it will run without problems from now on, but honestly, that probably won't be the case. As a 28 year old car with 168K miles, parts seem to wear out, even parts that have been replaced during my ownership. Selling because I'm getting older, the car is getting older, and since it is a second car, used only occasionally, I can't justify continuing to register, insure and maintain it. The ideal next owner would be someone willing and able to do some of their own maintenance.

Recent work includes:

new ignition wires July 2019 @167,616 miles
new front motor mount Feb 2019 @167,186 miles
passed smog inspection Jan 2019 @167,135 miles
new battery with 3-year warranty Jun 2018
new exhaust resonator, pipes Mar 2018 @165,832 miles
A/C service, convert to r134a Mar 2017 @162,150 miles, works well
new power steering rack Dec 2016 @ 161,424 miles
new rear rotors and pads Dec 2016 @ 161,424 miles
new Michelin 205/55-16 tires (4) Mar 2016 @159,181
new idle control valve Feb 2016 @158,863 miles
new timing belt, water pump, catalytic converter Jan 2016 @158,694 miles
new radiator Nov 2011
A stack of repair invoices extending back to 2005 will be provided with the car

Known issues:

Clear coat and paint are oxidized
Heater bypassed due to leak in core or valve
Leather seats have some tears, cracks
Interior driver's door handle has been repaired, but works well
Original electric cooling fan replaced by aftermarket fan - cools fine
Alarm & remote door locks disconnected

OK, I'm serious about passing my 164L on to its next owner. Since first advertising it in March, I have acquired another vehicle and need to clear a parking space. So if you have ever wanted a 164 that's a mild project, please consider this one. The car made the 160 mile round trip to Woodley Park a couple weeks ago with no difficulty, the A/C blows cold and it runs OK. However, the timing belt is 4 years & 10K miles old and the clutch engages at the bottom of the pedal. In other words, this isn't a new Toyota.

Please make me an offer and don't worry about it being insulting. I'd hate to donate it to NPR but that's the back-up plan if you don't buy it!
