When doing a water pump, very pay careful attention to what bolt comes out of what hole. Then double check by holding the water pump horizontally and dropping each bolt into each hole and observe the amount of threads exposed from each one. If you put too short a bolt into the wrong hole, you will strip threads in the engine block. You may have to rearrange them until you get nearly equal threads from every bolt.
