Passing my 87 Quad to my son, in my rush to get her running crossed battery terminals :-/
Need a wiring diagram to figure out what we are up against, to rebuild or replace current harness

If the ignition was turned off then you have probably just fried the alternator and associated wiring.

how does one cross battery terminals?.....battery terminals have different sizes so the small cable is designed not to fit the large pole....
or do you mean you just touched them and got a big spark?

probably got away with a couple of bust fuses and maybe the relays damaged.

How when they are not energized and they have diodes to protect the electronics against reverse polarity ?

Did you see any magic smoke get released from any of the wires?

As far as I know they still get 12 volts supplied
even with the key off.

It just takes a little back feed to mess up a computer.

I did this once trying to jump start my Miata in a rush a few years ago. Fortunately, there was no damage. Wouldn't assume your entire harness is fried. Do you see physical signs of damage?

I assume that you understand L-Jet which is analog. No CPU, no memory, etc. It is very robust.
