If it truly is a platinum and not a silver, then the transmission is worth $400 as a core. I hope your intent is to get it running and use it, but I always consider the risk minimal if I can part it out and recover the purchase price.

This assumes you have the space and ability to repair or part it out. If you are paying someone to repair it, you will end up upside down. Even at free.

Excellent!

The Car Disc CDs contain all the service manuals and bulletins - excellent resource.

Timing belt is a critical item on these cars and should be changed if history is unknown (or older than about 5 years or 30K miles). Otherwise, hoses, belts, brakes, fuel and battery to get it running - like any other car.

If you have a chance to post pictures - we always like those!

All Milanos have a clover on the rear. Silvers are silver, golds are gold, platinums are silver (you can see the confusion) and Verdes are green.

If it has ABS, make sure that you hear the pressure pump run and then stop before you drive it. Otherwise you will have rock hard pedal but (almost) no brakes. The pressure pump should be mounted on the front LH fender right behind the battery. Has a 4" diameter sphere on top of it.

If it has conventional brakes, then normal master cylinder and caliper issues apply.
