I have been a lurker here for quite some time. Back in the 1970’s my uncle owned a gtv200 and I was enamored with that little blue car. Fast forward to the 1990’s, I started my professional career as a derivatives trader and I have always been a car guy. After 20 years as a trader I sold off my business and I got into the car business. I work for a local Porsche and Audi franchise in whole sale. I have owned a couple dozen old 911’s some of which I have restored myself. I have been lurking here for the past year because I am interested in doing a resto on a gtv.

Anyway we took this Spider in as a trade from one of the former sales people here who needed a car for his son who has a newly minted driver’s license. I don’t have much history on it other then he bought it from a local Alfa specialist 2 years ago and only put about 500 miles on it. He had the radiator recorded and the water pump replaced. Its running the original SPICA injection but has a separate fuel pump with its own switch, also newer electronic ignition. The body is clean and pretty straight, I would realign the trunk if it were mine. I believe the paint is all original based on the patina and lack of any visible overspray. The interior is exceptionally clean and straight, the top is 2 years old. Original Campagnelo wheels.

I would call it a nice clean straight driver, no rust to speak of, fires right up and runs well every time.

We have lit listed at $5991 but we’re happy to consider any reasonable offer. Call me directly if you have any questions. Here is a link to the eBay add. 484-684-1824

One more picture... let me know if you have any questions. By the way I am on the wholesale side of the business so I don’t work on commission I am in charge of making sure these cars don’t pile up here. If you think my price is out of line and you politely want to comment it’s all welcome.

This ad made me smile as you said more about yourself than you did about the car. For a minute, I thought you were applying for a job here on the forum! GLWS :D

LOL naaa I know from experience that some dealers selling cars on BB's are not all that welcome so I just wanted to be upfront on who I was and how I got here. I have thousands and thousands of posts over on a couple of the air cooled Porsche boards and I know how well dealers are received there. I didn’t want to come across as a typical slick used car guy.

Looks very clean. I think the reason you're not getting much interest is due to the relatively high price. Also, brown is not a popular color and the 80-81s were Monofarfalla Spica systems, which are sort of the bastard children of the series 2 Spiders since the intake system was so different from the rest.

I think you should consider taking the last bid on the Ebay auction. I'm actually surprised that a brown '81 has actually made it that high. If it was red, you might get $1000 more.
