Ciao,
I am helping a friend sell a 1978 Niki Lauda Edition Spider from his late Brother's estate. 1 of approx. 350 produced.
• The car is currently located and has been kept in a dry shop in Wagoner, Oklahoma, 74467 and shows 87,062 miles on odometer.
• Car is complete but is advertised as a "project" because the original SPICA injected engine has the cylinder head off. We believe that the owner's intent, before failing health, was to rebuild the cylinder head and convert engine from SPICA injection to Weber carbs. Included in the deal is a period-correct 1976 2liter engine/gearbox, extra limited-slip differential and a complete SPICA fuel injection system.
• Condition of the body is good and maintains all of the Niki decals and badges but will require some rust repair behind the driver's side rear wheel. Interior and top are in decent condition and the car has a padded roll bar.
• Car has a clean Oklahoma title.
• May be able to provide shipping to locations between Wagoner, Oklahoma and Chicago, Illinois.
• Will provide more/better photos (planning on rolling the car outside for better photos next week) and details upon request.
• Asking $6,500.00 for car, extra 2liter engine/gearbox, LS differential and compete SPICA fuel injection system.

Looks great with the steel bumper and CD35 wheels.Pics follow
The bumper conversion isn’t complete. When the weather warms up, we still have to to do the front grill. And the wheels are a temporary loaner from a spider race car. But we are going to free up a set of CD 35s for this car as well. But it has been great getting the car back on the road! And here’s a funny story for you. The rear carburetor has both idle mixture screws broken off fully seated in the bore. It idles pretty well on 2 cylinders! Obviously that also needs to be addressed when the weather turns!Looks great with the steel bumper and CD35 wheels.

I found this in Italy, imported from the USA auction (with TX Title). I noticed that the stickers have been put on the wrong way. Could this be a replica? Through the VIN, can I verify the authenticity of the vehicle?Frank, my son bought the car a few months ago. It is back on the road in Missouri.

I asked “Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo” and they cannot verify with the VIN number of it was born as a Niki Lauda Edition.Alfa Romeo Spider Edizione Limitata Niki Lauda | Subito
I doubt you (or alfa storico) can verify it as a NL spider thru the VIN
these were normal 1978 USA spica injected spiders (115.41), in red, that got stickers, a dash plate (not limited, like 91 of 350 or anything - just a number) and a pair of smaller tornado door mirrors and round enamel badges on the wings.
but to me, from here, it looks OK....the VIN 11541000**** is generally in keeping with Lauda editions that have been for sale in US over the years
the claim "facile restauro", on the other hand, should be taken with a pinch of salt on any alfa spider![]()
