EDIT:: Should read 1977!
I started this topic with the post "is this too good to restore?"
After much indecision and "should I shouldn't I" questions in my head, I decided to go for it.
And so the journey begins:
Decision made!
Picture of how it was when it arrived from Italy ... It looks good in the picture (and was) but as with most older cars, it didn't wasn't quite as perfect close up. Unlike most of the era it was very solid so worth spending some time on.
To do all the bits on their own would have probably taken as long as it is taking to do a full "trim off" repaint. For instance there was a leak from the windshield ... turned out to be a hidden rusty bit that would never have been properly sorted without taking the screen out. There were other bits that fell into the category "well, if we are doing that, then we may as well do this at the same time, and if we're doing that then ... and so on, until decision was made "do it all". It was very very solid already, and good enough to mean that a little TLC should make it a lovely car:
The journey has begun:
I'll post more pictures as it progresses ...
Might be done for Christmas ... then it will be time to start on the mechanical bits and interior! ...
