Guys, I just post Alfas I see on BAT and reasonably priced ones I see on ebay because
it is good way to watch the classic car market as it pertains to value of our cars
as well a way learn about subtle differences between years, models etc. by members sharing their knowledge.
Some of the listings made for interesting conversation.
My posts will cease since some members frown on it.

1978Alfa is only saying, "Here is an Alfa for sale I saw out there on the innerwebs." Nothing more. I don't see the issue. No one is plugging BaT. My personal feeling is the increasing price bubble on BaT will implode at some point and it will fade away.

Maybe unrelated - I still have the clipping from the classifieds in the Seattle Times for my "Very rare 1968 (SIC) Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider." It turned out to be 10 blocks from my apartment. Funny how we used to buy old cars.

I'm in the auto business, though I don't professionally deal with classic cars - they're for my personal use. As a professional, I get very upset when someone posts and the pictures are taken to hide things. I've seen it to often and it's terrible. I understand the "buyer beware" is alive and well with internet selling, but come on. What every happened to honor? Honesty? Or for those who don't care about others, what about what it does to your soul?

When I see a BAT auction where the seller sounds like a used car dealer (and he's a dealer = professional), I don't see anything wrong with bringing out the truth. There's a difference between someone being ignorant (they didn't know there was bondo, because the last guy said there wasn't) an the crook who knows about the body filler, but takes pictures at the right angle, so it doesn't show, then play sheepish and says that he doesn't think so. Then the fools on BAT chime in and side with the seller, because they have no clue what they're talking about. The problem is that an honest buyer may win the auction, but when he goes to pick up the car, it isn't what was advertised. As far as I know, he's out the buyers fee he paid BAT and he's wasted both time and effort. Talking about slapping someone - a seller like that deserves a black eye!

Great looking Spider. My only concern (and it's nit picking) is the mounting of the shoulder harness. They are way to low in the back, and would never past a "tech inspection." They would be pretty ineffective the way they are.

Almost 2 decades ago. I bought a 69 Berlina off eBay. One of the first on eBay that took pictures of a car on a lift.
There was a thread going here on it. Either this section or the sedan section. Everybody was po poing it. Mainly because of the ugly massively faded paint job.
Most of the comments were what an ugly color or it must be full of bondo.
I just want to thank everyone that did. Since I spent the first 3 years of my Alfa career at an independent shop. I parted out God only knows how many Alfas in the first 6 months of working there.
Because of that I knew exactly what to look for and bought the Berlina for lower then it should have sold for.
With the exception of the ugly color change and 4 very small spots of bubble rust on one rear door. I have a rust free never wrecked car. Thank you to all who were on that thread a couple of decades a go.

So it pays to do your homework. Take what everyone is saying with a grain of salt. Zoom in on pictures. And you might just pick up that perfect barn find with the exception of the color.

Also I don’t mind the post of cars for sale elsewhere. As a lot of us don’t have time to search the internet everyday.
