Hey Guys, I am new to this group.. well joined a while back but this is my first post. Part way through a rebuild of a 1973 GT Junior, single head light.

I have stripped the car back to shell and it should be heading for paint later this week. I am based in Plettenberg Bay in South Africa. I've had the engine, a 2000 reconditioned from top to bottom by a specialist in JHB a long with most of the running gear, trans etc. So all the pieces are pretty much ready to go.

Looking a purchasing a small hoist to help with the rebuild as I have the space in my workshop to house one. The one thing that haunts me slightly is the wiring harness!!

I pulled the old one out in pretty much one piece but it has defiantly seen better days. Importing anything into SA comes at a massive cost with currency exchange as well as duty etc so I would prefer to have one fabricated locally using the old one as a map.

Does anyone have a colour diagram they can share that I can have printed to make life easier. The only one I have is black and white in the back of the Brooklands manual..

I will post some pics in the next few days of all the pieces of the puzzle.

Welcome to the AlfaBB billtapu. Hey building a new harness is actually a piece of cake....use the original as your roadmap...mount it to large 4x8 piece of plywood.....run the new wires right on top of the old. as you fit each new wire....remove the old one.....piece by piece it'll be done before you know it. The key though is to buy a good crimping tool (available on flea-bay) that will do the open barrel terminals. The open barrel blade terminals are available from various suppliers like..

I did this with my harness and I was very happy with the result....check my thread starting at post #631 to 694...

good luck with your project.
